Our Story

Fox Sparrow RV Resort and Campground didn’t start as a business idea. It started the same way a lot of great camping stories do. Outside.

We’re Troy and Janna Stevenson, and long before we ever owned a campground, we were simply outdoor people. Camping, lakes, mountains, and campfires were just part of life.

Janna grew up in June Lake, California, surrounded by the beauty of the Eastern Sierra. Troy spent his summers camping at places like Lake Almanor and Whiskeytown Lake, where days were spent in the water and evenings usually ended around a fire under the stars.

So the love for the outdoors came first.

A Story That Took a Few Turns

Janna and Troy met in their twenties while both trying to figure out where life was headed.

Troy had moved to California chasing the classic musician dream, hoping his band might be the next big thing. Janna had recently become a single mom and came to California looking for a fresh start for her and her son.

Life had other plans.

What started as two people trying to find their footing eventually turned into a partnership that has now lasted decades. Together they raised a family, built careers, and slowly worked toward a dream.

Twenty Years in the Making

Over the past two decades, we raised our boys while learning the hospitality world from the inside out. Along the way we managed condo complexes in Mammoth Lakes, California, worked with hotels in Reno, Nevada, and ran an RV park in Seaside, Oregon.

Each stop along the way taught us something about what makes a place feel welcoming. The little things that turn a simple stay into something people want to come back to.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, Troy even went back to school and earned a Master’s Degree in Media Design, because apparently raising kids and running properties still left a little free time.

Through all of it, though, one goal stayed in the back of our minds.

One day we wanted a place of our own.

Fox Sparrow

That dream finally became Fox Sparrow RV Resort and Campground.

Our campground sits on more than 40 acres of woods and open space, with quiet corners to explore, room to breathe, and plenty of places to slow down and enjoy the outdoors.

But what really makes Fox Sparrow special to us is not just the land. It is the people who come here.

Campers understand something a lot of the world forgets. Life is better outside. Evenings are better around a fire. Some of the best conversations happen in folding chairs.

That is exactly the kind of place we wanted to create.

Welcome to Camp

When you pull into Fox Sparrow, you are not checking into a corporate campground. Chances are you will see one of us driving around the property, fixing something, or stopping to chat with guests.

Because at the end of the day, we are campers too.

Fox Sparrow is the result of a lifetime spent outdoors, decades of experience in hospitality, and a dream that slowly took shape over many years.

We are glad you found us.

From our family to yours, welcome to camp.

Sincerely,
Troy and Janna Stevenson
